Flea and Tick Protection for Your Cat or Dog

Protect Your Dog or Cat From Fleas and Ticks!Particularly during the warmer months, flea and tick protection is critical to keep your pets healthy and comfortable–and to make sure your home stays vermin free. What do you use to fend off fleas?

When I was growing up, we had as many as 7 indoor-outdoor cats at a time, but usually only 3. They all wore flea collars, and I have clear memories of the distinct chemically smell the new ones put off whenever we replaced them. Then, we got a dog, and my parents discovered the wonder of once-a-month flea and tick protection and did away with the flea collars.

Now that I have my own pets, we use Frontline Plus for Dogs and Puppies for Ty and Pickles and Revolution for Zoe and Isabel. I particularly like Revolution because it protects against not only fleas but also heartworm, hookworms, roundworms, and ear mites. If you’ve ever tried to give a cat medicine, you know that the less you have to do it, the better! We just dose everyone on the fifth of every month and they’re set.

And of course we also give Pickles and Ty a heartworm preventive. They’re both on Heartgard Plus now, and they think it’s a treat so they love to take their medicine.
