Murphy’s Super-Secret Magical Cape of Wonder

December 8, 2008

(www.meowbarkblog.com) — Murphy may look like a tough cookie at almost 140 lbs and about 30 inches tall at his shoulders. But he’s really a big wuss. (Unless he thinks you’re going to hurt me, in which case he will take you OUT, believe me.) He’s scared of loud noises, cars, any animal bigger than [...]

Mastiff Mayhem: Zen and the Art of Counter-Surfing

December 4, 2008

(www.meowbarkblog.com) — Oh boy, oh boy, the dogs learned a new trick! It’s called “jump up on the counter and eat stuff they have no business eating and then shred the evidence all over the house so no one can prove nuttin’.” It’s totally precious. Except for NOT.
About two weeks ago, I came home from [...]

I Totally Play Favorites With My Pets

December 3, 2008

(www.meowbarkblog.com) — While gathering photos for the rotating snapshots in the new MBB design, I realized that I have virtually no pictures of my lynx point Siamese, Zoe. She was the first pet I ever had that was MINE, and we took tons of photos of her on film, which are now trapped in albums [...]

Video: Who Says Dogs Don’t Have Long Memories?

October 12, 2008

(www.meowbarkblog.com) — Marijke from Help My Hurt pointed me toward this touching video of two doggies greeting their owner as he returns from a 14-month deployment to Iraq. I made it about 15 seconds in without crying. It is so sweet.

Hock — It’s Not Just for “Ham” or “Loogi”

September 18, 2008

(www.meowbarkblog.com) — Well, Ty didn’t make it to his 4:45 vet appointment today. Around 1, he started crying while just lying on the floor in my office. When 20 minutes of petting did nothing to calm him, I knew something was wrong. While I was calling the vet, he started drooling. This dog was in [...]

Too Much Too Soon?

September 17, 2008

(www.meowbarkblog.com) — I came home from my Bible study last night and Ty was holding up his nonsurgery leg. It looks like he may have done something to his paw or his ankle, but that may just be wishful thinking on my part because I can’t bear the thought that his original bad knee is [...]

Mastiff Mayhem — Today’s Episode of “Things Murphy Destroyed or Ate”: My Glasses Case

September 16, 2008

(www.meowbarkblog.com) — It’s been a while since we had an episode of “Things Murphy Destroyed or Ate,” so it was about time for him to ruin something. And ruin it he did.
This used to be my glasses case:

From what I can glean from the crime scene, one of the cats knocked the case to the [...]

Ty’s Surgery Was a Complete Success

September 15, 2008

(www.meowbarkblog.com) — Tomorrow marks three weeks since Ty’s cruciate ligament surgery. He got his stitches out six days ago, and the doctor proclaimed him “the healingest dog I ever saw,” saying he was doing better at 2 weeks than most dogs were at 6 weeks.
Of course I’m one proud mommy!
He is almost back to normal, [...]

Murphy’s Special Alone Time With Mommy and Daddy

September 13, 2008

(www.meowbarkblog.com) — Murphy is a jealous dog. He loves his bullmastiff brother and pug sister, but at the end of the day, he would cheerfully sell them to the highest bidder if it meant more time alone with us with no other dogs around.
This weekend, we decided to give Murphy some special alone time with [...]

Pet Humor: Because Dogs Just LOVE It When You Put People Clothes on Them…

September 11, 2008

(www.meowbarkblog.com) — Okay, so maybe we were a little bored. And tired. And punchy. And maybe we’d both had a few drinks. That’s probably why we thought it would be fun to tie bandanas on Pickles and Murphy.
Meet Babushka Pickles

Murphy is Too Cool for School

“Take THAT, bandana!”

And that’s probably also why Murphy, after taking it [...]
