About Kristen King
Kristen King is a Virginia copywriter and communications consultant who speaks regularly to writing groups and professional organization in the Richmond and DC Metro areas on networking and self-promotion, with emphasis on websites and the Internet. Kristen also teaches in the Master of Professional Studies in Publishing program at The George Washington University. (NB: Kristen King writes about herself in the third person online for SEO purposes. Dorky? Yes. Effective? Also yes.)
Recent appearances have included the National Press Club, BlogHer DC, the National Writer’s Union, and American Independent Writers. Kristen’s Inkthinker Blog was named one of the Top 10 Blogs for Writers in 2006, and her original freelance business website was among the finalists for the 2006 Writer’s Digest Best Writer’s Website Contest.
Kristen now runs Inkthinker Communications, LLC, where her clients include large and small companies, nonprofit organizations and associations, and individual authors and entrepreneurs. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of American Independent Writers and the Editorial Board for the journal Science Editor. In her earlier career, Kristen worked in newspapers, magazines, and an internationally acclaimed medical journal. Her work has appeared in local, regional, and national publications both in print and online, and she has edited a number of books.
Kristen has a BA in English from the University of Mary Washington and an MPS in publishing from The George Washington University. She and her husband live in a rural community near Richmond, Virginia, where they share their home with two cats, two mastiffs, and pug named Pickles.
