Leadville Strong – Free Willow Fire Virtual Community Support Group

Mondays and Thursdays @ 7 pm MT through August 13 – later dates to be announced.
These are free, open meetings where anyone affected by the Willow Fire is encouraged to come, share, vent, cry, rage — whatever we need to help process the stress, fear, and trauma our community is dealing with in the face of this crisis.

This meeting is designed for a general group, but we can also create private groups as needed (eg, men only, first responders, etc.). Depending on what the group finds helpful today, we may just talk, we may learn and practice simple self-support skills, or we may do a combo.
Please note that this is qualified peer support facilitated by experienced, trained non-clinical professionals; it is NOT the same thing as or a replacement for individual or group therapy. We can provide referrals to clinical resources for folks interested in licensed counseling or in need of other clinical support. 🩷

LEAD FACILITATOR KRISTEN KING, PCC, CLC, is a multicertified integrative coach and consultant with 15+ years of non-clinical professional experience in behavioral health and human services including mental health, substance use, trauma, homelessness, crisis intervention, suicidality, rural healthcare, and vulnerable populations. She is an expert in evidence-based, peer-led wellness self-management support and teaches a variety of tools and strategies including practical neuroscience to reduce stress and anxiety, improve wellness, and process difficult experiences in real time. Kristen is trained in integrative hypnosis, Motivational Interviewing, and Mental Health First Aid, among other tools.
Kristen is joined by a rotating roster of similarly qualified co-facilitators from in and around Lake County, elsewhere in Colorado, and across the country — including some volunteer clinicians — who join me in sharing evidence-based and promising practices for nervous system regulation, stress management, and self-care in the face of acute and chronic trauma.
We are also joined by licensed clinicians when possible, and can always refer you to a licensed clinician on request even if one isn’t on the call.
Drop in online any time between 7 and 8 every Monday and Thursday through August 13; we will update schedules based on participate needs after August 13, so keep an eye out for those announcements! Watch for ad-hoc weekend and daytime sessions to be announced as needed and as availability allows.
Please note: Depending on the needs of the group, any session may end early. If you know you’ll be arriving late, please let us know so we’re aware you’re coming!
