Free Virtual Support Groups for People Affected by the WIllow Fire

Presented by Kristen King, LLC, in partnership with Sagebrush Recovery

Since June 28, you’ve been managing the fallout from the Willow Fire — fire danger, evacuations, displacement, uncertainty, decisions about staying or leaving, smoke, power outages, loss. You’re handling it. You’re also probably running on fumes and figuring out coping strategies on your own that may or may not be working.

Peer support groups bring together people navigating the same crisis to share what’s actually working. You’ll hear practical strategies for stress and anxiety, sleep, managing your nervous system when everything feels chaotic, and staying steady enough to handle what comes next. You’ll also realize you’re not the only person struggling with this — and that matters more than you might think.

This isn’t therapy. We don’t diagnose or treat anything here. We’re trained peer facilitators and community members sharing evidence-based tools and strategies that help people move through trauma and crisis without falling apart. If you need clinical support — therapy, medication, crisis intervention — we can connect you with those resources. Many people use peer support alongside therapy or on its own. Both work.

What to Expect

We meet 1-3 times each week for about an hour on Zoom each time, and you’re welcome to join or not based on your personal needs. No registration required, just show up. Each session is unique because it’s totally customized to the needs of the group each time. Participation is totally voluntary, and you’re welcome to speak as much or as little as you want. Late arrivals are always welcome. If you’re planning to log in late, no problem! Just let us know so we can make sure we’re there. Depending on what the group needs, we may end early.

Who Leads This

She’s trained in mental health and wellness self-management, nervous system regulation, and more and is a member of the International Association of Counselors and Therapists as a certified hypnotist.

Their approach is rooted in nature, nurtured by experience, and guided by heart.

Kristen and Sagebrush are joined by a range of co-facilitators — a rotating mix of trained peers, community members, and volunteer clinicians from Lake County and beyond — who bring similar expertise and lived experience.
